Korean Workers’ Party

Korean Workers’ Party
(KWP)
The North Korean Workers’ Party (NKWP) was formed in 1946 from a merger of the North Korean Communist Party and the New Democratic Party, and the NKWP’s subsequent merger with the South Korean Workers’ Party produced the Korean Workers’ Party (Chosen Nodong-Tang). The Korean Workers’ Party has been the ruling party of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) since the Republic was created and as such has represented Korean Marxism since 1948. It has been dominated by Kim Il Sung and after his death by his son Kim Jong Il.
